Visiting this website

This website provides information about my work as a priest, theologian and author. Technical connection data is processed to deliver the pages. This may include, in particular, your IP address, time of access, requested address, and browser and device information. This serves the provision, security and troubleshooting of the website. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in a secure, functioning website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Hosting

The website is provided through OpenAI’s ChatGPT Sites. Under the Sites Data Processing Agreement, OpenAI Ireland Ltd is the contracting party for users in the European Economic Area. Technical service providers may be involved in delivering and protecting the website. Further information is provided in the Sites Data Processing Agreement and the list of subprocessors. Processing may include international transfers; the applicable provisions are set out in the linked contractual documents. No promise is made that processing takes place exclusively in Germany or Europe.

Features and external links

Only aggregated daily counts are stored for website statistics: the page visited, referring website (domain name only), approximate country, broad device category and selected link destinations. No IP addresses, complete browser identifiers, search terms, URL parameters, names or visitor identifiers are stored for these statistics. Individuals are not recognised across visits. There are no statistics cookies and no browser storage for these statistics. Counts are deleted after no more than 400 days on the next recorded visit. Analysis is accessible only in the protected administration area. The statistics help improve this information service. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are respected when the browser sends the relevant signals. Clicks on support services and the contents of the prayer book are excluded from click statistics. Images and fonts are displayed without embedded social media feeds or external font services. Technically necessary processing by the hosting platform is separate from this.

Instagram, Facebook and the publisher are linked only. You leave this website only when you follow a link. Processing on the destination website is governed by its privacy information. No newsletter signup form is currently embedded; Brevo receives no signup information through this website.

Email contact and storage

If you write to me, I process your address and message to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for enquiries relating to a contract, or otherwise the legitimate interest in responding (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Messages are deleted when they are no longer needed for the relevant purpose and no retention obligation applies. Technical operating data is subject to the hosting provider’s deletion and security rules; the aggregated counts and deletion periods described above apply to website statistics.

Saints and name days

The Bonifatiuswerk name-day panel is loaded only when you click the relevant button. By doing so, you consent to the connection to heilige.de (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). The provider receives, in particular, your IP address and technical connection data. The content is embedded in a separate, restricted frame. No permanent consent is stored on your device. You can end the embedding by clicking “Close external content” or reloading the page. Alternatively, you can visit the service directly using the adjacent link.

Public prayer book

You choose whether your prayer or intention stays private or may be published after approval. Private submissions are encrypted, visible only in the protected owner area, cannot be approved for publication, and are deleted after seven days. A notification to Jens Henning contains no submitted text. Brevo handles the notification email.

The prayer book is optional. No name or email address is requested. You can therefore contribute without giving your name, but technical connection data means that this is not completely anonymous. The legal bases are your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) and, for sensitive information about yourself, your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a) GDPR).

The following are stored: text, entry identifier, time received, approval status, deletion deadline and a non-reversible verification value for your deletion key. The text is stored encrypted. Before approval, only Dr. Jens Henning can read it in the protected administration area. Unapproved entries expire after seven days; published entries expire 90 days after approval. Expired entries are no longer shown and are deleted the next time the prayer book is accessed. To limit misuse, a cryptographic verification value that changes daily is generated from the IP address transmitted by the hosting provider and retained for no more than two days (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; interest in preventing spam).

After submitting, you receive a personal deletion link. Keep it if you wish to delete your entry yourself later. The key is not shown in the public entry list. You can also request deletion or withdraw consent by email; please describe the entry and its approximate date. Published content can be read, copied and indexed by search engines. Deleting it here cannot reliably remove copies outside this website.

Comments and greetings

The guestbook is optional. Your contribution, optional display name, entry identifier, time received, approval status, deletion deadline and a non-reversible verification value for your personal deletion key are stored. Your display name and text are stored encrypted. Before approval, only Dr. Jens Henning can read them in the protected administration area. They appear publicly only after his explicit approval. Please use a first name or pseudonym and avoid contact details and information about identifiable other people.

By giving explicit consent, you allow storage for review and subsequent publication; this may include sensitive information in your own text. Unapproved contributions expire after 30 days; approved contributions expire one year after approval. Expired contributions are no longer shown and are deleted the next time the guestbook is accessed. A cryptographic verification value that changes daily and is derived from the IP address transmitted by the hosting provider limits spam to five submissions per day; it is retained for no more than two days. Raw IP addresses are not stored for this purpose.

After submitting, you receive a personal deletion link. You can use it to remove your contribution before or after approval and withdraw your consent. You can also contact me by email; please give your display name, approximate date and the contribution concerned. Content already published may have been copied outside this website or indexed by search engines. Deleting it here does not automatically remove such external copies.

Your rights

Subject to the applicable legal requirements, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests for reasons relating to your particular situation. You can withdraw consent with effect for the future. Please send requests to the address above. You can also complain to a data protection supervisory authority, such as the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Rhineland-Palatinate.
